As 2024 changes from fall to winter, I find myself reflecting back on traveling to Alaska in August this year.
Highlights:
- 3-day guided trip from Fairbanks to Deadhorse via the Dalton highway.
- Overnights in Coldfoot and Deadhorse.
- Morning swim in the Arctic Ocean.
- Stops along the Yukon River, across the Arctic Circle in Wiseman.
- Other rivers – Koyukuk River, Sag River.
- A herd of caribou crossing the Dalton highway near Toolik Field Station and Toolik Lake.
- Visit to The Trail Breaker Kennel in Fairbanks.
- Visit to the University of Alaska Museum of the North (UAMN)
- And, the highlight and main reason for the visit, a viewing and walk inside of the famous Bus 142.
