Poem – Edge of Tomorrow

While listening to a review of the new Tom Cruise movie “Edge of Tomorrow“, I thought what a sweet titled for a poem that plays into the plot of the movie, although somewhat loosely.  I have not seen the movie yet, nor the trailer.

“An officer finds himself caught in a time loop in a war with an alien race. His skills increase as he faces the same brutal combat scenarios, and his union with a Special Forces warrior gets him closer and closer to defeating the enemy.”

I awoke in a space
lacking light or dark.

I was not sure if
my eyes were open

or if I was seeing
the inside of my mind.

I was cold but
not shivering.

A breeze began to
blow across my face.

From an unknown direction
and source I heard a voice.

Garbled, soft, almost
not human.

What seemed like days
passed before the

space filled with
light blinding my

eyes and burning
my skin.

And then I saw them
staring at me.
