UAMN Bus 142 – Site clearing request

I am partnering with the University of Alaska Museum of the North in Fairbanks to help build an exhibit for Bus 142 (from the “Into the Wild” story about Christopher McCandless). Other organizations involved include Carine McCandless (Into The Wild Truth), Friends of Bus 142, and the Christopher Johnson McCandless Foundation.

Although I have never been to the bus, my story started with Jon Krakauer’s book “Into the Wild” as a lot of people. That story was also my first introduction to Alaska and my first visit in 2007. Just being 2-years younger than Christopher McCandless while reading his story, really hit home about finding purpose and what is most important in this life. Combined with the allure of adventure and freedom and the Alaskan landscape – it really became a part of myself.

Help fund the Bus 142 trail! Supporter William Lane Ricci is offering a matching challenge to help raise funds for the next step in Bus 142’s Road to Exhibition. We need $20,000 to clear a path through the boreal forest to the future outdoor exhibition site. Funds have been gifted for an open-air pavilion but we need your support to clear the trail. Now through June 30, your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $10,000, thanks to William Lane Ricci’s generous challenge.
