Poem – Stars

And we sailed in a cosmic boat made from dreams
across an ocean of stars.

Guided by distant energy we only feel
drawn to what we do not yet see.

Paddling through stellar dust
we travelled through star nurseries.

Something on the other side draws us closer
as we lose track of the passing years.

Stars long-ago transforming through explosions
greet and pull us closer to the beginning.

Poem – Outside of Time

Sands cover the landscape spewing steam.
The vast ocean surfaced with the grains I have discarded.
Passing through dimensions and space and time.
Passing through all matter.
I wait here on the rocky shores.
The shores of an unnamed planet.

What we have spans time.

I know beyond what the immediate senses are telling me
that you will soon emerge from the depths and upon
recognizing my presence, we can walk into the sunset
bordered by two moons.

Poem – Across the Salted Plains

Across the salted plains
We watch the sun fall
The moon rise
The machines sleep.

In dreams spaced by 100 years
I see you on the highest peak
Of the homeland we once
Ruled together.

I woke in the snow blanketed forest
Facing the morning sky.

Tenants of dreams fill each fiber and neuron,
I can only piece together that I was not made for this world.

I lost direction when the void
Overtook my body and my mind
Accelerating through space
Toward unexplored, unknown, and untouched worlds.

Where is our home now?

Poem – Shifted Wolves

From the collection “Beyond the Border Kingdom“.

(1)

In dreams
the white wolf
stands beside
the black wolf

Emerging from
unnamed star fields
walking across
a bridge of light
against gravity
against laws of physics.

I felt no fear.
I felt no fear.

Distant galaxies
produce and consume
light.

Skewed and shifted
before arriving here
and matter we cannot see
fills the space.

This universe
spirals further
from the beginning
stretching into
unknown space
at speeds we
cannot fathom
beyond the traditional
rules we theorized
from the variables
we created.

The universe spirals further
from the beginning
around a black hole –

gathering light
gathering matter.

At the event horizon
pink cubes gather strength.

Poem – Uncertain

“I have been here before.”

A distant memory surfaces
detached from the here
and now I fail to place
when and where.

Uncertain I have become
of my place in the physical world
bound by rules and limitations
choking and smothering the spirit.

That sunrise knows no bounds
stretching beyond what I can see and
I believe it is my mind listening
to the music of invisible particles

on a non-stop journey through infinite space
and existing in the sight of those who are ready.

Poem – Closer to Home

The present reality defined
by actions and the current environment.

Layer upon layer the past still
present the future a passing breath.

Morning sun filtered
through the spring trees

as the rain has finally fallen
and leaves turn and fill in

the space left by the previous
dead, winter, dead.

A slow walk on the worn dirt path.
The sky caresses the tree tops.

Wind rattles branches while the
robins and ravens play and forage.

The space fluctuates and stabilizes
around my eyes and what I feel

lifts up and detaches from the body
and I see everything bathed in light.

While this is part of a home
my home becomes more clear

the more we walk
the further we venture in.

Poem – Searching for Joline

At last we have arrived
at the transition.

An outpost where the river
falls into the sea.

Here we will setup camp
and wait for her to arrive.

I did not sleep well that evening
the voice of the stars and the silence of the sea

wrestled through the smoke
and through the flames the moon smiled.

What does this mean?
Is she near?

We travelled 40 days to
find this space and now we wait.

The book only spoke in hushed tones
only alluded to her in veiled visions.

At last I fell asleep and this dream
passed through time and quasars

violent shaking and collapsing
as the space closed around me.

I awoke on a mountain peak
overlooking a valley but

no longer near the outpost
as the sea falls into the river

the moon consumes the stars
and she reaches down from the sun.

Poem – As I

As I look down.
I see hands.

I feel nothing,
not numb,

beyond numb,
nothing at all.

Are these hands mine?

The fingers do not move
as I move through dark,

move through some space
but I do not feel I am moving

I think I am moving.
Is that enough

to define a reality
to define an existence

beyond what I am told
beyond what others see?

Poem – When Darkness Becomes All That We Know

Grey infused frozen water consumes the last light before the fields darken.

Distant planets follow me from dawn until dusk and a new world emerges where I have become one with beings and energy I do not understand yet make sense at levels I did not know existed.

I left my field years before I arrived here, in search of a new beginning, a chance to erase the past, the stories I have written.

Days traversing empty fields become lost in the mountain shadow where the sky became the ground as we became blind from snow and ice.

With no vision or guidance I was forced to remember ancient words from mountain tops.

It was difficult to separate the truth from lies, the cloaked wolves from the bodhisattva sent from beyond the shadows.

I stumbled upon a rock and fell into a creek feed from glaciers. I feel deep to the bottom of the creek and then I stopped.

The cold become the darkness of my being. The shadows thickened and became a vision of nothing, an island of another existence.

In that moment of eternity I stood on the shoreline of swirling black light and stared at the island. On that island a life played out like a movie and after some time, I realized it was my life, it was my movie.

I watched the choices and decisions I made, the people I loved, and the people I hurt. I watched the distance I kept and the selfishness I exuded. At times, I thought those on the island, in that temporal dream state, looked over at me across the distance as I watched them, as if they know I was there apart from the person they were interacting with.

When darkness becomes all that we know, a choice is presented to grow beyond the person whose own words and actions put them there.
