I walk the valley of
shadow and darkness looking for
you, not your physical self
but the essence left behind
by the deeds and missions you
have accomplished and completed,
the sacrifices you have made and the self
shaped through layers
of experiences, yet we know
the real person beneath.

Now I cry, you always know what is in my heart and are better able than me to give voice.
This took a bit of courage to write as well. It’s a fine line to walk on a sensitive, but important theme. There is more to this piece that I am still working with.
I look forward to reading more.
Moving and strong William ~ a beautiful reflection … x R
Hello my friend, thank you for the kind words. I wrote it about Patricia’s son, thinking about how he maybe a different person when he returns from Afghanistan.
That is so wonderful ~ and yes – such an experience is certain to add dimension and character – I agree!
He is the closest person I have to a son, and we are counting down the days until he returns home for good.
Great internal imagery!
Thank you. It is something that came to me in regards to Kyle.
